Hydroelectricity is Switzerland’s most important domestic source of energy and accounted for over 56% of the country’s energy production in 2011. In the Valais, the production and distribution of energy are an essential source of revenue and a major factor of its economic growth. The Institute of Systems Engineering is active in hydraulic energy, and in particular of in the field of:

  • hydraulic and electric machines for small and large hydropower;
  • from numerical simulation to measurements on the test bench to predict performance and to optimise and develop new technologies.

It provides research and educational services to its main industrial and academic partners and to cantonal bodies.
