Institute of Tourism

The Institute of Tourism, located in Sierre, conducts applied research and development projects that address current issues covering the various fields of tourism. It works in close collaboration with field partners who can directly exploit the new knowledge produced. It also has a wide range of thematic and methodological skills. Thanks to its broad network of internal and external partners, the institute is able to deal with transdisciplinary issues such as health, culture, energy, mobility, viticulture, etc. 

The Institute of Tourism focuses on the study of new tourism products and markets, with particular emphasis on the strong growth of e-tourism. It also provides tourism players with management tools, such as the monitoring system of the Valais Tourism Observatory (Tourobs). Through the publication and updating of exhaustive information, Tourobs enables tourism players to be aware of new trends in order to contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of the Valais.
