Joëlle Mastelic has been a professor at the HES-SO Valais since 2008. She teaches marketing and innovation at the Bachelor and Master level.

His research focuses on open innovation with users also known as co-design within Living Labs. She managed a project of the Rectors' Conference of the High Schools to promote the development of sustainable products co-developed by users and products in China in partnership with InnovAsians and Hangzhou University. She also managed an applied research project to understand the levers and barriers of companies and users towards the service economy (functional economy). In 2013, Joëlle created the first Energy Living Lab in Switzerland, which helps companies and public authorities to develop products and services co-developed by users in the energy sector.

She is currently working on various projects on user integration in the energy sector. Since August 2015, Joëlle has been a member of the board of the European Network ok Living Labs.
