Alexandra Amherd Hidalgo, a former researcher at the Institute of Systems Engineering and MOVE student at the HEI, received two awards for her PhD thesis. She received the Helmholtz Doctoral Prize 2018 at the Helmholtz Horizons event in Berlin, where six young researchers were recognised for their outstanding scientific achievements. The Brandenburg Technical University Cottbus-Senftenberg awarded her for the best dissertation of 2018.

Her career at the HEI

After her studies at the Charles III University of Madrid, Dr Alexandra Amherd Hidalgo wrote her Master’s thesis at the HEI. She then worked at the Institute of Systems Engineering where she participated in two industrial projects, one with Dentsply Maillefer under the direction of Jacques-Eric Bidaux and one with Scintilla AG under the direction of Efraín Carreño-Morelli.

In 2015 the professors at the HEI recommended her for a PhD at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, Centre for Materials and Coastal Research (HZG) near Hamburg.

She has co-authored several of her international publications with professors of the HEI and has held numerous presentations at international conferences.

Today

Dr Amherd Hidalgo works as a Materials Specialist at Cornadur SA, a Swiss watch production company.

We congratulate her on this success!
