The AIEST 2021 Conference was held from August 29 to September 1 in Lucerne. For its 70th anniversary edition, this prestigious conference focused on the perspectives of tourism.

Two professors were distinguished for their respective research:

  • Professor Thomas Steiner received the Peter Keller award for the best contribution combining theory and practice for his work "Web scraping for real estate list prices in swiss tourism destinations - the advent of citizen brokers?".
  • Professor Miriam Scaglione was awarded the second place in the whole conference for her work "Weather conditions in urban destinations - An analysis of visitor flows. The case of the "Geneva City pass" in collaboration with Professor Rodolfo Baggio of Bocconi University and Marut Doctor scientific collaborator at the HES-SO Valais-Wallis.

Both professors are respectively active in the Institute of Management Informatics for Thomas Steiner and in the Institute of Tourism for Miriam Scaglione. These excellent results are proof of the transdisciplinarity and quality of the research work carried out by the Valais University of Applied Sciences in Sierre.
