Barbara Waldis is anthropologist and holds a PhD from University de Fribourg (CH). She has published widely on the themes of intermarriage and intercultural communication and carried out several Swiss National Science Foundation project on transnational family ties (Universities of Fribourg and Neuchâtel, award for documentary film “DestiNation Love”). As a research fellow of the SNSF, she conducted fieldwork and published on multiculturalism at schools in La Réunion and the Republic of Mauritius (most recent publication 2017).
Since 2008, Barbara Waldis is teaching research methods at the School of Social Work Valais-Wallis. She is doing research on multiculturalism, migration and transnational family relations, visual art and social work, social practice and digital media.
Barbara Waldis is coordinator of the scientific council of Social Work of the UAS Western Switzerland and president of the scientific committee of the Swiss Society for Ethnology.
