The Data Semantics Lab of the Institute of Information Systems attended the first edition of OpenFood Hackdays at EPFL in Lausanne on 10 and 11 February 2017. Professor Maria Sokhn was part of the “Food and Me” team in these two days. The main output of this project is a mobile application that can tell the users whether the ingredients of a scanned product matches his food preferences.

The food.opendata.ch program supports creative, entrepreneurial and scientific projects in the area of food and nutrition data on their way from the first idea to market readiness by providing new open data, intense coaching and mentorship, and financial support. On 10/11 February 2017, around 200 software developers, engineers, designers, nutritionists, civil servants, and entrepreneurs were attended to jointly develop new solutions for a transparent, efficient, and innovative food industry based on open data.
