Energy dashboard development for municipalities in collaboration with the T2i Group

XpertGov

The initial objective of the project was to complete the T2i Group's municipal management software with an energy module.

The innovation of this project lies in the use of industrial data mining tools (Knime, Birt) to automatically extract energy-related information from municipal accounts and put it into perspective in a dashboard. The software developed makes it possible to obtain an A4 page dashboard in one click from hundreds of pages of municipal accounts. The municipality thus effortlessly obtains a first overview of its energy costs. It can then integrate its energy accounting directly into the municipal accounts, which represents an enormous gain in time and efficiency.

The dashboard provides an immediate and objective view of large energy consumers. This allows the municipality to devote its time to setting priorities and implementing measures to reduce water and energy consumption. The main dashboard is based on expenditure in francs. This allows easy communication between all municipal actors (political authorities, building managers, engineering offices, etc.). A second dashboard can be generated based on the summary of the energy distributor's invoices and provide a more detailed view (kWh, CO2).

This project was carried out from September 2013 to June 2015 in collaboration with the T2i group on the basis of needs identified in the municipalities. It has received the support of the Ark Foundation and the Valais Canton Energy Department.
