First edition of GeoCoW, the International Conference on Complex Networks/Webs

Over 70 participants from various specialist fields met in Les Diablerets from 2 to 5 February 2020 for a unique conference on complex networks/webs. The event, which was co-organised by the HES-SO Valais-Wallis and the University of Fribourg, was a great success. 

The numerous international speakers included Robert Smith? (Ottawa), specialist for mathematic modelling of infectious disease, Michael Bronstein (Imperial College London), head of graph learning research at Twitter, and Toshiyuki Nakagaki (Hokkaido), who twice won the Ig Nobel Prize for his work on slime mould. They held talks on interdisciplinary subjects such as machine learning, power grids, neurosciences and biochemistry.
