Embedded Communicating Systems

The School of Engineering of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland - Valais has considerable know-how in embedded systems and instrumentation that has continually been refined in the last three decades. It has become the "everything low systems" laboratory of the HES-SO Valais-Wallis.

Applied Research & Development

"Everything low systems" are systems with a minimum of resources: size, power consumption, mechanical dimensions, manufacturing costs and of course handling complexity. The multidisciplinary methods to handle such complex systems have been researched and developed within industrial grade projects and include:

  • Model-based systems engineering combining mechanical, electrical and software aspects
  • Integrated and automatic power management
  • Wire-based and wireless communication
  • Microelectronics
  • Instrumentation
  • Micromechanics

Teaching & Training

The Bachelor’s and Master’s courses at the HES-SO Valais-Wallis are inspired by state-of-the-art technological achievements resulting from projects to ensure that the future engineers have the latest professional know-how.

Industrial grade courses are offered to the ISI project partners as a standard feature in order to achieve an in-depth transfer of know-how.
