Members of the Human-Centred Computing group are attending CHI'16 using a telepresence robot. The robot is controlled at a distance of more than 9,000 kilometres at the conference centre in San Jose California. Using the robot we can 'walk' through the conference centre, mingle with attendees and attend presentation sessions. We are investigating first hand the new kinds of interaction skills needed to support communication and understanding when coordinating activities using this type of human-robot interaction. There's more on Twitter.
