SWEET (SWiss Energy research for the Energy Transition) is a funding programme owned and managed by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy.  The purpose of SWEET is to fund transdisciplinary research and innovation activities with a focus on Switzerland’s energy strategy 2050 and thus also on the country’s climate policy goals. SWEET targets research and innovation in the domains of energy efficiency, renewable energy, storage, networks, non-technical energy research (e.g. socio-economic or socio-psychological research), security and safety of critical energy infrastructures. SWEET Call is organized as a two-step process. In a first step, all interested consortia can submit a pre-proposal that briefly summarizes the consortium structure, the work packages, overarching objectives and the planned impact.

The HES-SO Valais Wallis and the Institute of Sustainable Energy are the leading coordinator of a large consortium for the call SWEET called Living and Working which was selected for the final round with the highest marks out of 5 applicants. The proposal is worth CHF 10 million over 8 years together with CHF 15 million of cofounding and pilot & demonstrator projects. The HES-SO Valais Wallis and the Institute of Sustainable Energy are proposing to do applied research in 5 Living Labs across Switzerland.
