Julia Emprechtinger is a trained social worker. After several years in practice in the field of mental health and in project development in an NGO active for homeless people in Vienna (A), she has been active in social work teaching and research for more than ten years. Currently, she is working on her PhD thesis on interprofessional collaboration in Swiss child and adult protection authorities and the role of social work in it. Her research focuses on child and adult protection from a professional and organizational sociological perspective, social work in correctional and probation services, and theories of social work. In addition, she is involved in research management at the Institute of Social Work at HESTS, especially on issues of Open Science and Data Management. Since 2022, she has also coordinated the Theory Commission of the Swiss Society for Social Work SGSA.
She is member of the research group CrimSo
