Creating and implementing complex energy systems is the core of our research. We design, develop, test and implement sustainable, technologically efficient and economically profitable tools that solve real environmental, economic and social problems.

Hydropower is one of the pillars of electricity supply and storage in Switzerland. One of our core aims is therefore to increase the flexibility of hydroelectric power plants while ensuring they remain robust. Together with industrial partners, we are developing new ways to predict infrastructure deterioration and optimise production.

This includes photovoltaic development in terms of system integration, performance evaluation and installation on specific sites, integration with short-term battery storage and power-to-gas (hydrogen) storage as seasonal storage solutions, and integration of photovoltaic production with medium and long-term microgrid storage, enabling energy management based on availability according to weather and season.
