In the D1NAMO project (Diabetes type 1 Non-invasive Activity MOnitoring) the eHealth unit of HES-SO Valais Wallis, CHUV and EPFL aim to develop a pervasive personal-sensing application for patients with diabetes type 1 that will make use of advanced wearable devices to monitor the physiological data of the patient in order to I) monitoring the activity of the patient, by sensing different physiological data, such as heart rate, ECG and breathing rate, II) providing informative feedback to the patient and the doctor about the amount of physical activity performed and its impact on the patient diet and medication, III) and detecting symptoms of hypoglycaemic attacks in order to provide early alerts to the doctor.

The relevance and significance of this project resides in the definition of a personal health system that will allow medical doctors to have a better understanding and view of the counterregulatory responses of the body with respect to hypoglycaemia, treatment and physical exercises and that will define algorithms for the prediction of the occurrence of hypoglycaemic events in diabetes type 1, thus improving the management of the chronic illness in the short and long period.
