We are at Internet of Things (IoT) Week 2017 in Geneva from 6th to 9th of June. The 7th edition of the IoT Week is a major conference on the Internet of Things that gathers over 200 sessions and activities to access the latest developments in the Internet of Things domain: emerging technologies, security and privacy, sustainable development, industry and market evolution.

The Data Semantics Lab and the Connected Experience Lab jointly presented a project, named “Enabling the Smart District Paradigm via Low-Cost, Nomadic Infrastructure” in the Exhibition Area. Moreover, Professor Maria Sokhn gave a very interesting talk at the Panel Session entitled “Sustainable Development Goals – IoT for Inclusiveness and Reduced Inequalities”. In these presentations, we proposed an approach for extending the Smart City paradigm beyond large cities, in a quick and cost-effective way, based on the nomadic IoT infrastructure, crowdsourcing, and active involvement of local communities.
