The context of social work during the war in Ukraine will be presented. Specific focus is put on social work practitioners’ needs and challenges, as well as implications for policy and practice. The issue of mental health and social work in Ukraine functions as an example case, taking up further key challenges for social work, but also the solutions arisen within the Ukrainian community. Here, the international community (large NGOs, programs, international organizations etc) input into addressing those challenges are a further factor that makes up the active responses to the current situation. As part of the general overview there will be social work students’ perspectives on their experience and challenges during the war presented based on the example of the social work students from the National University of Kyiv – Mohyla Academy.
